A three-day Basic Course in Medical Education Programme, approved by the National Medical Commission (NMC), was organised at the Shri Guru Ram Rai Institute of Medical & Health Sciences (SGRRIM&HS), operating under Shri Guru Ram Rai University, from August 31 to September 2, 2026. The programme was organised by the Department of Medical Education, SGRRIM&HS, under the aegis of the Regional Centre for Medical Education, Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences.
On the occasion, Dr. Neel Kamal Kumar, Director, SGRRIM&HS, welcomed all the faculty members and experts.
Dr. Utkarsh Sharma, Principal, SGRRIM&HS, said that such programmes would prove instrumental in creating awareness about medical education across various medical colleges and in guiding faculty members to provide quality education to medical students. He added that the objective of the programme was faculty development at the national level.
A total of 28 faculty members from SGRRIM&HS and 2 faculty members from Gautam Buddha Chikitsa Mahavidyalaya, under Ras Bihari Bose Subharti University, participated in the programme.
Senior experts delivered lectures on various aspects of medical education and enhanced the knowledge of the participating faculty members on different teaching and learning methodologies. They also addressed the queries and concerns of all participants during the question-and-answer sessions.
The senior faculty members included Dr. Anjali Chaudhary, Dr. Nidhi Jain, Dr. Puneet Ohri, Dr. Rajendra Kumar Srivastava, Dr. Megha Luthra, Dr. Vaishali Dhananjay, Dr. Alok Vardhan Mathur, Dr. Lalit Kumar, Dr. Robina Makkar, Dr. Sulekha Nautiyal, and Dr. Dhananjay Shrikant, who delivered lectures on various topics related to medical education.
Dr. Puneet Ohri, Coordinator of the Department of Medical Education, SGRRIM&HS, and Convener of the programme, said that programmes such as the Basic Course in Medical Education are beneficial in training faculty members of medical colleges and, in turn, helping provide quality education to medical students.
The programme concluded under the supervision of Dr. Kiran Bhatt, an NMC observer from the Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences. Dr. Virendra Verma, Medical Superintendent, Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, was also present on the occasion.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Anjali Chaudhary, Co-Convener of the programme.
